Is there a Portable Guild Wars version out there?
I'm switching between lots of different computers these days, and I'm getting tired of installing Guild Wars on each one. I was wondering if there was a way to install Guild Wars on a usb thumbdrive and just have it run on all computers the same way other programs from portableapps.com does. Please help me. I did a search for it already and someone suggested using the GW Multiloader program, but that made no sense at all so please help me out.

I know that, I just don't want to have to install it EACH and every time. I was hoping to install it on the actual drive and just run it when I plug in the drive like all the other stuff at portableapps.com does. oh well, guess I'm just dreaming.

Sorry to break it to you, but the world hasn't advanced far enough to have a 5+GB game playable directly from a memory stick... There will always be a installation time needed for games
It's not a simple application like the ones on that website.
Also, I don't see what's so difficult about installing/downloading over night. I'm guessing your predicament is little more complex than you make out.

actually I did find a portable version by digging through the forums on portableapps.com. Also, lots of the programs on there are more complex in regards to the installation than Guild Wars is. Guild Wars is actually very simple to install actually, it's just a matter of getting the registry entries to work right with an external drive rather than one of the internal ones and someone figured out how to do that, they even set it up to have an entry in the portableapps.com launching menu so I don't even need to open the drive.

Possible to convince the machine to run GW from a removable drive? Sure.
Going to "work"? Well, even with an eSATA or USB3 port, I suspect that you're going to have performance problems.

I have had installed Guild Wars to a thumb drive before and I always slower on load times when running from it. That's why I usually just copy everything over and install it to the hard drive. If you have all updates on the DAT file it takes less than 5 mins to copy over and install.

I ran mine from my external hard drive when I was in between laptops. It ran slightly slower, but not enough to affect gameplay. I might not recommend doing high end PvP that way, but it should work fine on the external. Just leave the exe on the external and it should work without having to install it a bunch of times.
